HISTORY & HERITAGE

Akin to Skin Science & Nature adventure you can say started way back in 1841, inspired by the Elizabeth's great great grandfather Beridad, not only a farmer but also a politian. Elizabeth, the founder, is motivated by his ethics of looking after the earth's land and people with integrity when other black people in other parts of the world were in bondage through slavery. Elizabeth created & established The Akin Skin House with the same traditional principles of working hard to look after our earth's habitat.,

There are over 200 flower farms in Kenya, thus incorporating our floral heritage in formulations comes naturally and our 24k Rose Collection is named after grandmother Rose in North Western Kenya. So thrilling as 24k is also named after Elizabeth's daughter Keziah born on the 24th day and a wink to our ancient Nile Gold herstory.

Akin Skin is further influenced by a scientific expedition completed by the founder to the Arctic circle exploring a remote area to carry out scientific research into how our lifestyle effects the climate and our fragile environment.

Our tradition is the pursuit of excellence, expanse of knowledge and in deed be a global citizen. Decedents from 1841 are in a wide range of fields from working for the Centre of Disease Control, Oxford Alum's, medicine, nursing, entertainment, educators, craftmanship to the pharmaceutical industries to owing their own pharmacy all in the quest for excellence.

THE VISION

AKN SKN HOUSE has a vision to develop more innovative collections that connect with marine technology. Akin Skin also aims to associate with the people, as well as the places that we source our ingredients from as well as develop the Finch Foundation in Kenya. This is to help those that are blind, deaf and disabled in a society of disadvantaged communities. The Finch Foundation is a collaboration between Elizabeth and her sister Erinah who works to support the inclusion of people with disabilities. Kenya has over 0.7 million people suffering from disabilities, over 350,000 with mobility difficulties, 300,000 plus are blind as well as 150,000 to over 200,000 with cognition & hearing disabilities. The majority of those live in rural areas making it very difficult to access basic amenities.

The vision is to continue to develop products innovatively that keep the skin feeling smooth, supple and skin-deep healthy while giving pleasure but effective because of botanical blended formulations for balancing everyday life with the confidence to feel our best. The particular perception is to also collaborate with artists, scientists and beauty enthusiasts. The founder Elizabeth has previously exhibited her art work in the Blackheath Gallery, London and the Jacob Javits Convention Centre, New York City. AKN SKN aims to continue to pursuit perfection in quality craftmanship while reinventing product packaging.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Research and development is part of an ongoing practice band purpose for The Akin Skin House whose aim is to seek to provide luxury skincare that brings about gratification by awakening inner self-love confidently to whomever has AKN SKN in their possession. Akin Skin adds to personality, identity, a charisma that embodies skin-deep health & inner beauty for seekers of nature's botanical nourishment. The Akin Skin Houseg is an epitome of knowledge, expertise & unrelenting passion of what we are + what we envisage to aspire to be while we inspire.

THE LAUNCH

We are are exhilarated to have taken the leap to start a natural luxe skincare experience. Accomplishments that stand out in significance is the resilience, training in beauty and the education completed have helped in the structure of the foundation. It has also been a great achievement for AKN SKN to reinvent all products and packaging to be plastic-free. It has also always been with great pleasure to collaborate with others that are also in the wellbeing sector. It was with immense joy to have achieved 'The Summer Soiree Clean Beauty Cheshire' event in Alderley Edge, Cheshire to showcase the '24k Gold Rose Collection' at a Pop-up, giving the opportunity to get acquainted with the Akin Skin experience in person, 'To Rose Together' event was a great success for us because it has been 7 years in the making but do not worry if you missed out, look out for future AKN SKN launches & events by following @aknskn247.
